First ArtWalk Gardiner of the season is May 17

GARDINER — Area artists will once again showcase original artworks in storefronts and studios in Gardiner’s historic downtown during ArtWalk Gardiner, which begins for the season Friday, May 17.

This is the 15th year that Artwalk Gardiner has brought together artists, businesses and the community for an evening of art exhibitions, music, refreshments and community good cheer. The event runs from 5 to 8 p.m, and is free and open to the public.
Artwalk Gardiner was formally launched in the fall of 2005 by the Artdogs studios and a handful of area artists who exhibited their work to a well attended, appreciative audience. Artwalk Gardiner is a non-juried, member-run organization that accepts artists within a twenty mile radius of downtown Gardiner. Through regular exhibitions in downtown Gardiner, the Artwalk’s mission is to increase community awareness and appreciation of the visual arts; to encourage interaction with local artists and the public by providing artists with a supportive network that fosters the creative economy.
Artwalk Gardiner has drawn hundreds of people for this event collaborating closely with the local businesses. Nearly a dozen storefronts display twenty or more area artists. Maps will be available at area businesses to match venues to artists.
