GRAY — Author Galen Morrison will be at the Gray Public Library Thursday, Feb. 7, to discuss his first book, “Beyond the Smoke: The Story of Gray Fire Rescue.”
Morrison, a lifetime member of Gray Fire Rescue and former chief, has created a work that highlights the important role fire rescue played in the history of the town, according to the library news release. The book collects archival images and stories from the 1800s to present day, and traces the history of both firefighting and public safety as a science, and as a backdrop of a small Maine town.
Morrison will read from his book, answer questions and sign copies. The book will be available to purchase.
The talk, which is free and open to the public, is 6:30 p.m. at the library, 5 Hancock St. Light refreshments will be served.
The talk is part of the Pat Barter Speaker Series.
