AUGUSTA — State Rep. Joyce McCreight, D-Harpswell, was selected to participate in the National Conference of State Legislatures 2019 Opioid Policy Fellows Program.
“I am honored to have been chosen as a National Conference of State Legislatures Opioid Policy Fellow for 2019,” said McCreight. “This is an incredible opportunity to join with other legislators from across the country for in-depth education and support in the areas of opioid use disorder and opioid overdose.”
The Opioid Policy Fellows Program is focused on health policies and programs being considered by state legislatures across the country to address the drug crisis. The program is supported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
“As house chair of the Task Force to Address the Opioid Crisis in the State, I am proud that we were able to work by consensus to create sound policy initiatives in the areas of prevention, treatment and law enforcement,” said McCreight. “I expect this program will serve as a resource to build upon that work and to share with other states the policies that are working here in Maine.”
McCreight, who represents Harpswell, West Bath and part of Brunswick, is one of only 22 state legislators in the country selected to participate in the program.
