SKOWHEGAN — The Skowhegan boys and girls basketball teams participated in several pre-season matchups before the official start of the 2018-2019.
The results in girls varsity action:
* Skowhegan vs. Medomak Valley — Jaycie Christopher scored 18 points, pulled down three rebounds and added two assists and a block. Annie Cooke added 11 points and four assists. Mariah Dunbar chipped in 10 points, to pace Skowhegan to a 69-28 win over Medomak. Alyssa Everett added 10 points and seven rebounds. Sydney Ames put up four points, Sydney Reed added eight points * Skowhegan vs. Mt. View — Annie Cooke scored 14 points, had three assists and two steals, while Jaycie Christopher added 13 points, seven rebounds, two steals and a blocked shot to lead the way for Skowhegan, 60-26. * Skowhegan vs. Waterville — Jaycie Christopher led the way with 20 points, 14 rebounds and three assists. Annie Cooke netted 12 and Mariah Dunbar added eight in a 49-37 win.
The results in girls’ junior varsity action:
* Skowhegan vs. Messalonskee — Emma Smith scored five points, Annah Perkins and Logan Wing each added four, but Messalonskee pulled away to win 30-24. * Skowhegan vs. Mt. View — Emma Smith scored a team high eight points, Ashley Pelletier added six and Logan Wing and Aja Rogers both chipped five points for a 29-15 victory. * Skowhegan vs. Waterville — Logan Wing scored 13 points, draining three from beyond the arc, while Reese Danforth added four points, with the team falling short 30-21.
The results in boys’ varsity action:
* Skowhegan vs. Old Town — Marcus Christopher netted 26 points, grabbed six rebounds and added three steals, while Matush Prokop added 10 points, seven boards,and two assists to help pace the varsity to a 49-44 win over Old Town in the pre season opener for Skowhegan. Kyle Kruse finished with seven points and four rebounds. * Skowhegan vs. Winthrop — Kyle Kruse, Matush Prokop and Carter Hunt each scored 10 points, with Marcus Christopher chipping in eight more. Skowhegan falls to Winthrop 56-46. Kruse finished with seven rebounds; Hunt added four rebounds and four assists; Prokop created five turnovers with three steals and two blocks.
The results in junior varsity action:
* Skowhegan vs. Hermon — Levi Obert led the way with 16 points, four boards, three assists and four steals. Christian Weed added nine points, seven rebounds and two assists, and Marcus Hampton finished with seven points and six assists in a losing effort, withHermon ekeing out a 45-42 win.
