2019 Kenney winners, nominees announced by Kennebec Valley chamber

AUGUSTA – The Kennebec Valley Chamber of Commerce has announced its annual winners and nominees for the Kenney Awards.
The awards banquet is 4:30 to 10 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25, at the Augusta Civic Center. The Kenney, named for the region it hails from, is awarded annually to area businesses and professionals that are deserving of the community’s attention and recognition. The Kenneys will recognize seven awardees, with three of the awards being determined by live voting at the event. Tickets and table reservations are now available.
This year’s award recipients are John Fallona, Peter G. Thompson Lifetime Achievement; O’Connor Auto Park, Large Business of the Year; Clark Marine, Small Business of the Year; Peter Prescott, Special Service Award.
The winners of the three remaining categories – President’s Choice, Community Service and Cynergy Young Professional – will be decided and announced live. After watching short videos of the finalists in each category, attendees of the Kenney Awards will cast their votes by texting in for the finalist they wish to see take home the Kenney.
The finalists for the President’s Choice Award are Gardiner Federal Credit Union, Maine Isshinryu Karate Academies and Merrill’s Detector Dog Services. The finalists for the Community Service Award are the First Amendment Museum, The Harlow and Viles Arboretum. The finalists for the Cynergy Young Professional Award are Craig Garofalo, Kennebec Savings Bank; Jessilin Quint, Smart EyeCare Center; and Courtney Yeager, United Way of Kennebec Valley.
The finalists and winners represent hard work in both their professional and personal lives. They hold a standard of ethics and genuine care for the community that the chamber is honored to recognize.
Before the award presentations, a cocktail hour with the opportunity to network with attendees and a buffet dinner will be served. Following the awards, the School Street Band will perform. The 2018 Kenney Awards were sold out with over 900 people in attendance to celebrate the achievements of the Kennebec Valley region’s greatest organizations and exceptional individuals.
