Morton named chair of Western Maine Health board

NORWAY – The Western Maine Health Board of Trustees recently announced that Tom Morton has been appointed chairman of the Board of Trustees, effective Nov. 7, replacing Patricia Weigel.

During his tenure on the board, Morton served on the Community Relations and Development Committee, Performance Improvement & Patient Safety Council/Quality Council, Governance Committee, Finance Committee, Executive Committee, and has been the vice chair of the board for the past two years. Gene Benner has been appointed vice chair and Kevin Carleton has been appointed secretary-treasurer.
Jack Sours, general manager of Oxford Casino, will replace Robin Zinchuk on the board. Zinchuk served three consecutive three-year terms.
Weigel, past chairman of the board, was thanked and recognized for her leadership for the past two years. Weigel has served as chair and vice chair of the board and has been an active member of the Finance Committee, Governance Committee and the Credentials Accreditation and Bylaws Committee. Weigel will continue to serve on the board through May.
