AUGUSTA — The 17th annual Maine Credit Unions’ Ending Hunger Walking Tour began Oct. 25 at Maine State Credit Union in Augusta and will conclude with a visit to Changing Seasons FCU in Hampden on Monday, Nov. 27.
Each year, Brenda Davis, long-time advocate for ending hunger in Maine and executive director of the BBC Opportunity Center in Old Town, partners with Maine’s credit unions to travel, by foot and car, to raise money to end hunger in Maine. This year, Davis 2ill visit 96 credit unions in 90 communities.
She visited the Lisbon Community on Friday, Nov, 9 and was presented with donation checks totaling $367.
The money received by Davis during the walking campaign goes to a food pantry in each credit union’s community. A Lisbon Community Federal Credit Union spokeswoman said the credit union is is pleased to take part in the annual event and sincerely thanks Davis for her dedication and hard work.
