BUSINESS PROFILE: Passing on the knowledge at Turner’s Cote Bros.

Oct. 182018

TURNER — Ron Blake, 68, has made a decision to step back a bit at Cote Brothers and pass on the knowledge he has accumulated to highly qualified Jesse Cook.
Jess — as most of the gang at Cote Brothers call him — came as a trained mechanic in another field and even taught at a local technical school.

Cote Brothers is at 293 Auburn Road.
Cook admits the best way to learn the sewing machine business is for someone to take the person under their wing as Blake did for him a little over four years ago. During that time, Cook has attended several schools and has worked with Blake and by himself in factories, with extensive work on industrial sewing machines of many types. On many occasions he has helped Blake solve some tough repairs. According to Blake, Cook has been a quick learner and has been fully qualified for a couple of years now to move forward by himself. More and more customers ask for Cook now, as his reputation has grown.
Cook may seem a bit tough, but Blake will assure you he is not. “Just thank him for his service and you will have a friend for life,” Blake says.
A note from Blake:
“I want to thank everyone for your loyalty over the 30-plus years I have been doing this. I’m not stopping altogether but moving forward. I will be selling and servicing just industrial machines at a new shop I built. I will still offer new and used industrial sewing machines along with parts, needles, service and consulting. I will travel to customers’ location (industrial machines only) or at my shop by appointment only! I have been told I am getting grumpy, so it’s time for a change and time to lighten my workload.
Keep an eye out for our new website — www.cotebrothers.com — as it is being redesigned as we speak. My email address remains the same — ron@cotebrothers.com — and the new phone is 207-225-5921; however, if I don’t answer, I may be playing golf or snowmobiling, so please leave a message.
“Oh, by the way, I’m still there to help and consult for Jess, and we will be covering for each other on vacations, etc. Boy, is he going to be busy covering for me! Eventually, he will also have the industrial division as well. His son Heath has been working for us part time for over a year now and is fast becoming a good mechanic; I see a bright future there for him.”
