PAID POLITICAL AD: Senator Shenna Bellows: A Strong Voice for Our Communities

Oct. 52018

I’m a carpenter’s daughter, and my mother worked nights at the Christmas wreath factory in Ellsworth so that we would have Christmas. I know what it’s like to work hard. I worked retail, waited tables and was a Subway Sandwich Artist. I’ve owned a small business and successfully led three nonprofit organizations. I know how to balance a budget and meet payroll. I have never forgotten where I come from.

When I ran for state senate in 2016, I promised that I would be a strong voice for fair property taxes. I’m proud that I kept my promise as your state senator.
We increased the Homestead Property Tax Exemption to $20,000, providing much-needed relief. We also increased the Property Tax Fairness Credit and school funding, and we did it all without increasing income taxes.
I promise to continue to fight for property tax relief.
As your state senator, I served as a ranking member on the Labor, Commerce, Research and Economic Development Committee. I’m proud of our bipartisan work to streamline regulations on small businesses and support workers.
I earned an endorsement from the Maine AFL-CIO for my perfect voting record. I believe in honesty and civility. I’m proud of my ability to work collaboratively with Republicans, Democrats and Independents alike to get things done. We accomplished important reforms to help children, seniors and veterans.
Thank you for the privilege of representing you in the Maine Senate. I ask for your vote for re-election on November 6.
