Kennebec Savings Bank honored for community service

AUGUSTA — Kennebec Savings Bank was recently featured in Independent Banker magazine as a national award recipient for the 2018 National Community Bank Service Awards by the Independent Community Bankers of America. The award celebrates the outstanding and innovative ways community banks give back to the communities they serve.

Kennebec Savings Bank is one of three banks recognized nationwide, and received the honor for its meaningful community service and economic revitalization program, “Main Street Pride,” bank officials said in a news release. Through KSB’s charitable giving programs, the bank has invested hundreds of thousands of dollars toward several projects focused on arts and culture, business development, and community charity.
Kennebec Savings Bank’s revitalization projects have included contributions to the historic theater restorations of the Colonial Theater in Augusta and Johnson Hall in Gardiner, a small interest-free business loan pool for local businesses, and annual community charity contributions. In 2017, the bank contributed more than $700,000 to local charities and 130 bank employees dedicated more than 9,000 hours of community service.
“This award puts a spotlight on the work that Kennebec Savings Bank does each year to give back, both in dollars and volunteer hours, to the communities we serve,” said President and CEO Andrew Silsby. “I am thrilled to be recognized by the ICBA for this prestigious award.”
Kennebec Savings Bank has branches in Augusta, Waterville and Farmindale, as well as electronic banking services in Winthrop and Freeport.
