SKOWHEGAN — The Skowhegan Area Chamber of Commerce is seeking nominees for awards to individuals and businesses that are changing the area’s economy and making a significant impact on the community. Awards are presented at Novembers annual awards dinner and nominations are due by 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28.

Alton W. Whittemore Award — In honor of Alton W. Whittemore, for 40 years of support and dedication to the Skowhegan Area Chamber of Commerce and more than 60 years of service to the people of the Skowhegan area, the Alton W. Whittemore Award is awarded to those who have displayed similar service to the Skowhegan Area Chamber of Commerce.
Large Business of the Year — More than 25 employees, must be a chamber member, community service-minded, progressive and visible in the community, positive environment for employees.
Small Business of the Year — Less than 25 employees, must be a chamber member, must have been in business for three years, outstanding service and product quality, community minded, and visible to the community.
Volunteer of the Year — Represents the community in the best possible way, positive attitude, and specific contribution during the year.
Community Impact Award — Represents the community in the best possible way, positive attitude, and specific contribution during the year. Does not have to have chamber membership and it can be a business or organization.
Educational Leader of the year — Must work within the chamber’s coverage area, demonstrating a positive attitude, and make a significant impact on the lives of children and youth.
