SOUTH PARIS — The W.J.Wheeler Insurance Agency is celebrating 100 years as a Maine Corporation and 154 years in business — and they’re throwing a party.
The event will begin at 5 p.m. Thursday, June 28, 15 Market Square.
Secretary of State Matthew Dunlop will be on hand to recognize the company for its longevity. The evening’s program also will also include an open house and tour of its recently renovated offices as well as a $1,000 referral rewards drawing. Light refreshments will be provided.
Following the program, the agency’s monthly “Introduction to Medicare” seminar will be held at 6:30 p.m. All are welcome, and in particular, those turning 65 within the next six to 12 months.
William Jordan Wheeler founded the agency in 1864 in South Paris. The company moved into its current location in the Billings Block in Market Square in 1898 and incorporated in 1918. Today, Wheeler’s great-great-grandson, Michael Newsom, runs the agency. The W.J.Wheeler Insurance Agency offers many forms of insurance, including home, auto, business, life, as well as individual health and Medicare plans.
