TOPSHAM — The Topsham Public Library, 25 Foreside Road, will celebrate the winners of this year’s Joy of the Lens competition by hosting a photographers talk at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 5.
Photographers Richard Tarr for “The Watchman” (black & white), Linda Cullivan for “Unheard Melody” (color), and Nancy Greindl for “Daydreamer” (Linda’s Challenge: shadows category) will discuss their work.
The program is free and open to the public.
The library also will present the People’s Choice Award, and the Friends of the Topsham Public Library will award the Friends’ Photo Lottery prize — a framed photograph, “Rivers Meet,” by Peter A. McCarthy.
Other highlights on the library’s May calendar include a Mystery Readers Roundtable, Tuesday, May 8, from 3 to 4 p.m. Once a month, fans of the mystery genre gather over hot drinks and share their favorite crime novels and good company. This month, participants will read “Everywhere That Mary Went” by Lisa Scottoline.
The Men’s Book Group, meets at 4 p.m. Thursday, May 17. This month’s book is “Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI” by David Grann.
Third Saturday Teen Crafting, is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 19. Each month will have a different craft project, so spend as little or as much time as you like. No registration required. It is for those ages 11-18 only. This month’s project is to make a universe in a jar.
