BELFAST — The Maine Mathematics and Science Alliance and its arts organization partner, Waterfall Arts, are seeking participants for its new free digital storytelling program for girls aged 12-16.
The AR Girls Summer Intensive will run from Aug. 6 to 17 in Belfast.
The summer program launches a digital storytelling club for girls that will continue from September through December.
Participants will work with other girls and community members using their expertise in the arts to create their own interactive digital stories, communicating topics that are important to them and their communities.
They will learn how to use the latest Augmented Reality platform to get their stories out into the community. The club will continue to meet weekly via phone or video conference after the summer program. The girls will share their digital stories with the community during Waterfall Arts’ Open House and a showcase Oct. 22.
Participants do not need their own computer hardware to participate. Girls ages 12 to 16 can sign up on MMSA’s website mmsa.org/projects/ar-girls. For more information, contact Gemma Scott, technology education specialist, 207-322-8004 or gscott@mmsa.org.
