South girls, North boys win Maine All-Star Basketball Games

BANGOR — The girl’s South AA/A/B All-Star team defeated the North team 84-81 in the opening game of the Maine McDonald’s High School Senior All-Star Basketball Games at Husson University March 10.
In the boys’ game, the boy’s North AA/A/B All-Stars defeated the South team 145-120.

Meghan Graff of South Portland High School led the South with 19 points, and Nathalie Theriault of Poland Regional High School added 15 points. North All-Star Emme Poulin of Cheverus High School led all scorers with 23 points, while teammate Grace Philippon of John Bapst Memorial High School chipped in 14 points
Other South All-Stars were Sabrina Armstrong, Brunswick High School; Alexandra Goodman, Freeport High School; Sophie Glidden, Scarborough High School; Eva Mazur, South Portland High School; Alexandra Hart, Thornton Academy; Chandler True, Lake Region High School; Emily Weisser, Maine Girls Academy Miranda Montgomery, Marshwood High School.
The South squad was coached by Scott Regan of Bonny Eagle High School in Buxton, Steve Freeman of Marshwood High School in Eliot, and Tim Dolley of Poland Regional High School.
The North All-Star roster included Abby Cavallaro, Cheverus High School; Piper Norcross, Edward Little High School; Lauren Plissey, Hermon High School; Crystal Bell, John Bapst Memorial High School; Gabby DePatsy, Medomak Valley High School; Allyssa Turner, Messalonskee High School; Chelsea Crockett, Nokomis Regional High School; and Emily Wheaton, Presque Isle High School.
The North team was coached by Kayla Richards of Caribou High School, Nick Winchester of Hampden Academy, and Nate Pelletier of Oxford Hills High School.
In boy’s action, Jacob Godfrey of Hermon High School was the top scorer with 29 points, and his North teammate, Keenan Marseille, added 26 points. The South All-Stars were led by Noah Malone of South Portland High School, who had 19 points, and Jack Kane of Greely High School with 18.
Also competing for the North All-Stars were Jordan Roddy, Cony High School; Ian McIntyre, Hampden Academy; Andrew Phelps, Mount Desert Island High School; Zach Hartsgrove, Nokomis Regional High School; Griffin Foley, Portland High School; Terion Moss, Portland High School; Griffin Guerrette, Presque Isle High School; Nick Curtis, Windham High School; and Mike Gilman, Windham High School. The team was coached by Mark Reed of Hermon High School, Ryan Martin of Nokomis Regional High School and Joe Russo of Portland High School.
The South All-Star roster included Finn Bowe, Cape Elizabeth High School; Shane DeWolfe, Greely High School; Jonah Sautter, Lisbon High School; Riley Hasson, South Portland High School; David Keohan, Thornton Academy; Cameren Cousins, Wells High School; Zac Manoogian, Westbrook High School; Nolan Hagerty, Yarmouth High School; and Mason Shink, Spruce Mountain High School.
The South team was coached by Sedge Saunders of Fryeburg Academy, Troy Brown of Wells High School and Phil Conley of Scarborough High School.
Other winners:
Maine State Foul Shooting Champions — Kaeti Butterfield of Monmouth Academy was the girl’s winner and Colby Archer of Old Town High School was the boy’s winner in the MABC State Foul Shooting Championship. Butterfield, the Central Region champion, made 49 of 50 free throws to earn the state title. East Region Champion Chelsea Crockett of Nokomis Regional High School, South Region Champion Meghan Graff of South Portland High School, and North Region Champion Emily Wheaton of Presque Isle High School also competed for the girl’s state championship. Archer, the boy’s North Region Champion, and South Region Champion Nicco Pitre each made 48 of 50 foul shots, and Archer made nine of 10 shots in a tie-breaker round to claim the state title. East Region Champion Reece Dannenberg of George Stevens Academy and Central Region Champion Marshall Doyon of Mt. Blue Hight School also competed. The Maine Association of Basketball Coaches (MABC) organized competitions earlier this year to determine the regional finalists, who competed for the state championship during All-Star weekend.
All-Star Girl’s Three Point Shootout — Chandler True of Lake Region High School won the All-Star Girl’s Three-point Shootout with 11 three-pointers made from five positions on the court in one minute.
Dr Pepper Slam Dunk Contest — Jacob Godfrey of Hermon High School was the winner of the Dr Pepper Slam Dunk Contest with a score of 60 in the final round.
