Read so you can ‘Build a Better World’

LEWISTON — The Lewiston Public Library’s children’s department is kicking off its summer reading game — “Build a Better World” — Friday, June 23. To participate in this summer reading program, children need to read two hours per week; at the end of each week, they receive a small prize, with the possibility of earning even bigger raffle prizes (soccer balls, Legos, chemistry sets, bikes and more).

Anyone reading six out of the eight weeks will be given a special prize at the end of the summer. Throughout these summer vacation months, the library will be hosting free programs and events full of music, energy and fun for children and their parents,

Events will take place at 11 a..m in Callahan Hall and include:

* June 23 — Matt Loosigian, storyteller and musician
* June 26 — Dana Perkins, ventriloquist and magician
* July 1 — Sparks Arc with animals galore
* July 10 — Antonin Rocha, story-teller extraordinaire

Tickets for these performances will be given out on the third floor two weeks in advance. Having a ticket ensures priority entrance to Callahan Hall.
