RICHMOND — The Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife is inviting the public to join the fun at Swan Island Wildlife Management Area for a day filled with hands-on learning Saturday, June 24, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Activities include fishing, paddling, archery, orienteering, geocaching, hunting dog demos and ATV trails; and a tour of the island. a barbecue lunch will be provided.
Bring your family to Swan Island in the Kennebec River and learn a variety of outdoor skills from seasoned professionals.
* Reservations required to participate.
* Ferry leaves for island at 7 a.m..; sessions start at 9 a.m. Location: Routes 197 and 24
* Track choices are first come, first served.
* Breakfast to be prepared by local Boy Scouts; donations accepted
* A barbecue lunch will be provided to participants; be sure to bring your own drinks.
* Ages 15 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
* Children must be 10 years or older to participate in the ATV session.
The cost to attend is $5 per person or $20 for a family of four or more members. Space is limited and pre-registration is required.
