GARDINER — Healthy Communities of the Capital Area, which serves southern Kennebec County, has received a grant that will help reduce lead poisoning in Augusta and Gardiner.
The Lead Poisoning Prevention grant from the State of Maine Health and Human Services, “recognizing the interconnected nature of communities, provides support for a coalition with representatives from the cities of Augusta and Gardiner, landlords and organizations serving young families,” according to a news release from Healthy Communities of the Capital Area.
The organization will “collaborate on ways to reduce childhood exposure to lead and educate the public on best lead poisoning prevention practices,” the release said.
