Hamlin School family cooking night held Jan. 9

RANDOLPH – Teresa C. Hamlin School in Randolph hosted its first Family Cooking Night on Monday, Jan. 9. With a dozen families in attendance, plus teachers, staff, and a FoodCorps service member, it was a full house.

Families cooked mac and cheese from scratch, with a side of roasted broccoli and carrots, and parents received a “Store Tour” lesson on smart shopping and healthy eating from SNAP Ed’s Rachael Reynolds. Each family then took home a gift bag with recipes, cooking tools, and more to spark further home cooking adventures.

Organized by FoodCorps and sponsored by The Kids Cook Monday, the evening was meant to encourage families to cook together at home and give them some tools to do so. For more information, check out www.thekidscookmonday.org.
