AUGUSTA — Fort Western & Arnold Expedition Historical Society will present “Benedict Arnold’s March on the Upper Dead River,” a talk by Kenny Wing of Eustis at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12, at the Council Chambers, second floor of the Augusta City Center, 16 Cony St.
Wing will discuss Benedict Arnold’s march on the Upper Dead River, from the time of Arnold’s carry over to Carry Ponds to just east of what is now Flagstaff Lake to the upper end of the Chain of Ponds area at the Canadian border.
He will draw out places that are named because of Benedict Arnold and explain some of Arnold’s trials and problems as he went through this area. Kenny is co-author of “The Lost Villages of Flagstaff Lake” (2010), which will be available for purchase and signing. All lectures are free and open to the public and wheelchair accessible. Refreshments will be served. Donations are gratefully accepted. In case of inclement weather, Sunday, March 19, will be reserved as a snow date.
