RANGELEY — Have you ever wondered how authors select names and characters for their novels? There are probably many ways, but we are offering an opportunity for you or someone you love to become a character in an upcoming novel in the Marble Falls Legacy Series. This is an opportunity to become famous from Bemis Road to Main Street!
Author Bruce Judisch, who has published the first novel in the Marble Falls Legacy Series “Quimby Pond,” has offered to add a special character to his next novel in order to help the Rangeley Public Library financially. That character could be you!
In order to be considered as a character in this new book, all you need to do is purchase a raffle ticket at the library or from any library board member, put the name of the hopeful character (yourself, spouse, child, friend with his/her permission of course) on the ticket, and cross your fingers.
The winning character will be drawn at the library gala on Aug. 10. Judisch plans to attend to draw the winning entry and to have the winner determine if he/she will be a “good guy” or a “bad guy.”
Tickets will begin going on sale Feb. 18 at our annual spaghetti dinner for $10 per ticket or three tickets for $25. Judisch’s first book in the series, “Quimby Pond,” will be available.
A short synopsis of Judisch’s new book:
Present Day, Marble Falls, Maine, based loosely on Rangeley. When Gwen Kelly left Boston to escape a disappointing and sorrowful past, little did she know that the past would shadow her to Marble Falls. After barely surviving a harrowing experience with a mysterious antique trunk in Quimby Pond and the havoc it wreaked on her and her friends, she is ready to settle down in her new hometown. A fresh start and a blossoming relationship with Officer Brent Newcomb herald a promising future.
Then, one early December morning, the telephone rings, and her world is upset once again. Her father has passed away under curious circumstances. When she returns to Medford to settle his estate, a shocking revelation from his will rocks her to her core. With Brent’s help from afar, she embarks on a quest to uncover the truth of her father’s secret.
Complicating that quest is the discovery of a family connection to the antique trunk that had nearly ended her life only two months earlier. Distracted in pursuing the mystery of her past and restoring the fortune of her present, Gwen suddenly finds herself the target of an unknown assailant, but this time she must face the danger alone. Are the past and present somehow related? Can she find the strength in her newly found faith to survive?
