PARIS — The Novel Idea Book Club at the Paris Public Library will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, to discuss the historical fiction book “Remember Me: Tomah Joseph’s Gift to Franklin Roosevelt” by authors Donald Soctomah and Jean Flahive. 
Illustrations were done by Mary Beth Owens, who lives in Walpole. “Remember Me” takes place at Franklin’s childhood and adult summer home on Campobello Island, New Brunswick. Tomah Joseph, Passamaquoddy elder and former chief, befriended and mentored 10-year-old Franklin, teaching him many things, including how to paddle a canoe. Their special friendship lasted into Mr. Roosevelt’s early adulthood, at which time Tomah Joseph went to “another place in the sky.”
The Novel Idea Book Club is for adults and young adults reading children’s, junior and young adult literature. The library will make books available upon request for pre-reading. A snack related to the selection will be available. For more information call 743-6994.
