BATH — Patten Free Library will host its first ever Spelling Bee for adults on April 28. Poetry Month is also being celebrated in April, with an installation at Library Park.
In the spelling bee, teams of 2 to 5 people, age 16 and older will compete. Spelling Bee enthusiasts are invited to come and watch. The event will raise money for library programs and will be held 5:30 to 9 p.m. at American Legion Post 20, 1 Columbus Drive.,
“We felt a Spelling Bee made perfect sense as a library fundraiser,” says Development Director Samantha Ricker, “Not only does it help us promote literacy, but we are hoping it will bring our community together again after four long years of not being able to gather and celebrate the Library and its services.”
There will also be a cash bar, munchies, a raffle for more than a dozen baskets of goodies, and more. Winners will get a prize and the street cred of being the PFL Spelling Bee Champions.
