LEWISTON – Androscoggin Bank has added Kierston Van Soest and Cheryl Bascomb to its Board of Directors.
Both are active leaders in their businesses and communities, and they bring valuable perspectives to the bank’s economic and community initiatives, a news release announcing their appointment said. They will join the bank’s team of directors and business executives who guide the vision and trajectory of Androscoggin Bank’s business banking model.
“We began our search with numerous potential candidates,” Paul H Andersen, board chair, said. “After a thorough vetting process matched with extensive dialogue amongst existing directors, we unanimously voted to add Cheryl Bascomb and Kierston Van Soest. Their experience and unique skill sets match perfectly with our needs. The two directors are replacing long-serving professionals, Jean Mattimore and Steven Closson, who have represented us in exemplary fashion over the years.”
“We are incredibly excited to welcome two such talented and capable individuals who bring a wealth of insights and experience,” said Neil Kiely, bank president and CEO. “We know they both will contribute a significant, positive impact on our initiative to better serve our clients and our communities.”
Van Soest is the chief financial officer at L.L.Bean Inc. In addition to her CFO and executive team roles, she chairs the Investment Committee and is a member of the Benefits Committee. She also plays a pivotal role in overseeing corporate strategy. She is on the board of the United Way of Southern Maine, as a member of the executive committee and chair of the Governance Committee. She also is on the New England Advisory Council of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston and the Portland Development Corporation. Before joining L.L.Bean in 2002, she held leadership roles with an international public accounting firm and a publicly traded media company in Baltimore, New York City, and Warsaw, Poland. She holds a degree from Lehigh University and a certified public accountant designation. She lives in Portland with her husband and two children.
Bascomb joined Dartmouth College as vice president for alumni relations in 2018, bringing more than 30 years of private sector marketing expertise to the role. In the role, she provides strategic vision and leadership for volunteers, alumni communications, and a wide variety of programming for more than 85,000 alumni worldwide. She spent 34 years in southern Maine working for companies as varied as L.L. Bean, UNUM and BerryDunn CPAs. She has served on a number of nonprofit boards in Maine and New Hampshire, including Northeast Delta Dental, Boys & Girls clubs of Southern Maine and – as an avid hockey player – Falmouth Family Ice Center. She and her husband, Dave Van Wie, live in Lyme, New Hampshire.
