Gaslight Theater’s ‘Whales of August’ is Aug. 26-28, Sept. 2-4

HALLOWELL – The Hallowell Gaslight Theater production of “The Whales of August,” by Dave Berry, takes the stage the weekends of Aug. 26-28 and Sept. 2-4, at Hallowell City Hall, 1 Winthrop St.
The play is set at a beach house on an island off the coast of Maine, where two widowed sisters have summered for many years. The sisters, played by Margaret Matheson and Linda Duarte, are joined by an old friend, the island handyman, and an old rougue who may or may not be deposed royalty, played by Lisa Copenhaver, Gregor Smith and William Haley. The play is directed by Rebecca Singer and Joseph Maranda.
Performances are 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday Aug. 26, 27, Sept. 2 and 3. Matinees are at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28 and Sept. 4.
