Phillips writer to be featured at several area events

PHILLIPS – Local author B.J. Bangs will be at several events to discuss her new book, “Who Needs Men, I’ve Got Cats,” in August.
From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 14, Bangs will be at the First Choice Animal Care Appreciation Event, 5 Storm Drive, Windham.
From 1 to 4 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, she will be the guest of Rangeley Public Library, 7 Lake St., Rangeley.
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 19, she will be at the Phillips Public Library, 96 Main St., as part of the Phillips Old Home Day celebration.
Anyone who signs up for her email list at any of the events will be entered into a drawing to win a free autographed copy of the book.
“Who Needs Men, I’ve Got Cats,” received a 2021 Certificate of Excellence Award from the International Cat Association. The 53-page paperback is a humorous parody about dating, in which a well-educated, well-traveled gal finds her perfect match in a Siamese cat.
Bangs is a blogger, journalist, communications professional and photographer who writes about cat news and cat tourism at www.bjbangs.net. As the human guardian to many cats over the years, she is committed to letting people know how great cats are for us physically and emotionally. She has been published in national cat magazines, including CFA’s CatTalk, and the former Cat Fancy. Additionally, she has been published online at Catster.com. She is the recipient of the International Cat Writer’s Association Muse Medallion and the 2017 Winn Feline Foundation Media Appreciation Award for her work with Feline Fix by Five.
