BELGRADE – The Belgrade Public Library and Library Trustees have chosen “The Lowering Days,” by Gregory Brown as the town community read for this year.
Events and discussions surrounding the book will be scheduled for late spring and summer, and the book will be available to borrow through the library and to buy at Oliver & Friends Bookshop, 87 Main St.
Set in 1980s Maine, “The Lowering Days” (Harper; 2021) explores family love, the power of myths and storytelling, survival and environmental exploitation, and the ties between cultural identity and the land.
