PITTSTON — Some special people in Pittston have been busy like elves, crafting and sewing to make Christmas wishes for residents of Richmond Elder Care come true.
Every year, Ruth Sherman and Carolyn McAuslin, along with friends, sell their handiwork at craft fairs and use the money to buy gifts for residents of the home.
And the joy doesn’t stop at Christmas (although it is Carolyn’s most favorite time of the year). Ruth makes sure the home is decorated for every holiday (yes, the curtains too!) From Easter baskets to Halloween, they are busy bringing joy to the residents.
Ruth, Carolyn and friends will deliver their packages to Richmond Elder Home on Christmas Eve morning this year.
This is a tradition that is more than 20 years in the making. While some would consider them elders themselves, the giving goes on no matter what, even a COVID-19 pandemic. Some of us are lucky to have such role models to admire and we hope the joy they are spreading continues to grow.
