BRUNSWICK — “The 39 Steps” opened at The Theater Project Jan. 31 and will run for three consecutive weekends. The Theater Project, at 14 School St., is a nonprofit professional community theater.
“The 39 Steps,: directed by Theater Project Artistic Director Al Miller and written by Patrick Barlow, is a clever riff on Alfred Hitchcock’s 1935 film of the same name. It’s a spy story, a love story, and a comedy featuring four actors playing a myriad of colorful characters who tirelessly try to dupe, follow and flee from one another in a fantastic web of adventures.
The show is for theater fans of all ages. During its run, Vessel & Vine and Taverna Khione are extending special discounts to Theater Project patrons — 10 [percent off the bill at Vessel & Vine (Wednesdays through Saturdays) and a two-course pre-show dinner at Taverna Khione at a special price Wednesdays through Sundays, tip not included, excluding Valentine’s Day.
Performance times are 7:30 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays. Kids under two get in for free, as long as they sit on someone’s lap, and top level seating in the theater is always pay-what-you-want.
