BRUNSWICK — Cabot Mill Antiques will celebrate 23 years in business on Saturday, Nov. 2, and Sunday, Nov. 3.
The event will feature free appraisals by independent appraiser Daniel Buck Soules from 1 to 4 p.m. both days. There is a limit of three items per customer and egistration is required the day of.
Soules, who is based in Lisbon, has been involved in antiques sale and appraisalof antiques and art since the early 1970s. He specializes in Americana, principally 18th and 19th centuries, Shaker items and 19th and 20th century paintings. He’s appeared for 11 years as an independent appraiser in decorative arts and collectibles on the PBS show “Antiques Roadshow.”
Architectural Historian and Author Scott Hanson will present “Restoring Your Historic House: The Comprehensive Guide for Homeowners,” from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Nov. 2.
Hanson is a Maine-based artist, author and architectural historian who has been the city of Portland’s preservation planner and a consultant on many historic rehabilitation projects. He restored his 1828 home, Whitten House, which has been featured on the HGTV program, “If Walls Could Talk,” had has several published works. The most recent, “Restoring Your Historic House: The Comprehensive Guide for Homeowners,” is scheduled for release in November 2020.
There will also be store-wide discounts and other events during the two-day celebration.
Cabot Mill Antiques, in the Fort Andross building, 14 Maine St., has a vast array of merchandise from period furnishings, to vintage collectibles, jewelry, rare books, art, textiles, nautical items, furniture, rugs, clocks, quilts, glassware, ironstone, pottery and ceramics, as well as a variety of items in other categories. It is handicapped accessible.
