BRUNSWICK — Mourning the loss of loved ones always has been a part of the human experience, surely magnified during the Civil War. Civil War mourning customs are the topic of guest speaker Elizabeth Hallett at the Joshua Chamberlain Civil War Roundtable on Thursday, Oct. 10.
The meeting, which is free and open to the public, is at 7 p.m. in the Morrell Room, Curtis Memorial Library, 23 Pleasant St.
Hallett will discuss mourning through its varied stages, length, type, customs, etiquette, dress, jewelry and photography and how those experiencing loss managed to accept and live with it.
