Hearing Tip: Attention Hunters

Sep. 142019

With the crisp fall air in Maine comes a much-anticipated time of year for the avid hunter. It’s also a time when these hunters unwittingly damage their hearing. They may not realize it, but the noise from a firearm can reach 170 decibels, which is louder than a jet engine.
Explosive sounds such as gunshots can instantly and permanently damage your hearing, but hearing loss from firearms could take years to show up. So hunters beware.
Before you head out on your next hunt, make an appointment at Waterville Audiology to be fit for your personalized hearing protection device.
