Fly Rod Crosby book talk will be July 10 at Rangeley Public Library

RANGELEY –Dick Matthews, husband of author Pam Matthews who wrote the book “Cornelia ‘Fly Rod’ Crosby: Champion of Maine,” will be the guest speaker at 6 p.m., Wednesday, July 10, at the Rangeley Public Library to discuss Crosby’s life and accomplishments.
Crosby is a local legend, not only among fly-fishing enthusiasts, but also because she was the first registered Maine guide. Born and raised in Phillips, Crosby broke barriers for women in the late 1800s as an angler, a hunter, a journalist, a marketer of the Maine outdoors, an early conservationist, as well as holder of the first Maine Guide badge.
Matthews is a former college English and writing teacher, journalist, freelance writer, magazine editor and author. Autographed copies of his wife’s book will be available for purchase.
