GARDINER — Gardiner Rotary recently received approval from Rotary International and the School Administrative District 11 School Board to form an Interact Club at Gardiner Area High School and Gardiner Regional Middle School.
More than 40 students were recently inducted into the club; its mission is to bring together young people ages 12 to 18 to develop leadership skills while discovering the power of “Service Above Self.”
Interact members connect with leaders in their community and around the world, take action to make a difference in their school and community, and discover new cultures and promote international understanding. The club’s first project is the opening of a food bank and a clothing bank at the high school.
Club members will be traveling to Quebec in May to work with other Interact clubs in Canada and Maine. This year’s presidents are Emerson Leach and Xandra Malinowski. Pictured are members of the Gardiner Rotary Club and the new Interact Club members.
