TEETH TIP: The importance of cutting edge technology

Over the years, our number one priority has been to provide our patients with the highest quality of dental care. Several investments we have made in our practice are computerized anesthetic machines, digital x-rays and intraoral scanners and cameras.

One of the things patients fear most about going to the dentist is getting an injection. Fortunately, we have found a better solution to reduce any discomfort that sometimes occurs during an injection by using “The Wand.” This is a virtually painless syringe-free system.
Using digital radiographs has the benefit of increasing resolution for detecting cavities and at the same time reducing the radiation dosage.
In addition to digital radiographs, we also have a Cone Beam Computed Tomography unit that produces high resolution panoramic radiographs to evaluate wisdom teeth and for placing implants predictably.
Our recent addition is an intraoral scanner for digital impressions. Most impressions for crowns, bridges and implants used to be taken with a gooey material that would harden within a few minutes. With this digital scanner, we have made the process more comfortable, as it is tasteless, gooey free and faster.
We are proud to say that we have 60 years of combined experience among the dentists at Smile Solutions of Maine. If you have any questions about these technological advances in dentistry, feel free to call us or stop by for a tour of our practices.
