Carrabassett Valley Library hosts author Hornor, musician Duquette

CARRABASSETT VALLEY — The Carrabassett Public Library will host two events in the days between Christmas and New Year’s.
Author James Horner will be at the library at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, to discuss his new book, “Victoria Falls,” and musician Rob Duquette will perform at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29.

Both events will be in the Begin Family Community Room.
Hornor, of Portland, teaches composition and literature at Southern Maine Community College in South Portland. “Victoria Falls” is a “mid-life coming of age novel” about a man who’s on a mission in Africa for the World Bank and, despite his worldiness, he’s a “late 20th century innocent abroad who embodies both the bravado and the debilitating insecurities of the modern American male.”
Duquette’s children’s music features many original fun songs that carry messages ranging from teeth brushing to being kind. Performing on ukulele, guitar, xylophone and an assortment of percussion instruments from around the globe that catch the attention of children and adults alike, Rob brings the message of universal kindness to schools, libraries, corporate events, and concert stages, singing songs of multi-cultural musical awareness to audiences across New England.
