Coworking owner Anzelc is CMGC Emerging Leader winner

WATERVILLE — Central Maine Growth Council and KVConnect presenting their annual Emerging Leader award to RJ Anzelc, owner and founder of Bricks Coworking & Innovation Space.

In five months, Anzelc transformed a first-floor suite in Hathaway Creative Center into a bustling coworking and innovation hub for Maine’s next generation of startups and entrepreneurs.
“My vision was to provide a space for businesses and entrepreneurs to bounce ideas off each other and collaborate on initiatives,” said Anzelc. “Our location allows us the opportunity to extend entrepreneurial services directly into the heart of Waterville’s growing downtown and historic Hathaway Creative Center facility.”
Raised in Skowhegan and a former software developer at Collaborative Consulting, Anzelc has strong ties to Waterville and was eager to contribute to the region’s revitalization. Launched in June,Bricks has created a diverse community of innovative organizations and startups.
It’s a network of talent, said Garvan D. Donegan, director of planning and economic development at Central Maine Growth Council, that is difficult to achieve by working from home or even in a corporate environment. “Coworking is a growing trend in thriving downtown centers, and Bricks Coworking & Innovation Space will contribute to and benefit from the vibrancy emerging from Waterville’s downtown revitalization,” says Donegan.
Located in Suite 110 of Hathaway Creative Center at 10 Water St., Bricks Coworking & Innovation Space features more than twenty work stations, three private offices, a conference room, access to standard office resources, including high-speed internet and printing/scanning, as well as off-site experts to provide members with business development and technical assistance.
Directly across from Waterville Brewing Company, the space also boasts a lounge and kitchenette equipped with community and high-top tables, cabinets, and appliances that include coffee makers. The entire space features the original floors, 16-foot high ceilings, water views, and exposed brick of one of the most historic and iconic mills in the State of Maine, the Hathaway Mill and Lockwood Mill complex.
