WINSLOW — Elanco employees participated in a corporate-sponsored Global Day of Service on Sept. 27, an opportunity to give back to the community in which they live and work.
Elanco is a companion animal health and animal food health company based in Greenfield, Ind., production locations around the world, including Winslow.
More than 50 employees from the Winslow site participated in the 2018 Global Day Of Service, while still maintaining an operating production facility. Elanco employees worked at the Waterville Humane Society, and work included painting the cat hallway, installing shelves in the cat rooms for the cats to perch on, organizing in the garage and performing landscaping around the sign at the end of the driveway.
The Elanco team also worked for the Winslow Parks and Recreation Department, cleaning, picking up trash, and lots of painting. The gazebos and picnic tables at Fort Halifax Park got a fresh coat of paint; and at Norton Field, the scorer’s booth, dugouts, and snack shack all received a new coat of paint.
The team that served at the Mid-Maine Homeless Shelter worked around a busy entrance and hallway to give a fresh coat of paint there, as well as in the conference room.
The Elanco group also gave their time to the Waterville Food Bank and were able to do some cleaning, sorting, and even fixing carts. A fresh load of potatoes gleaned from fields in Aroostook County were delivered that morning, so potato sorting quickly became a job needing our attention.
