Oct. 112018

If your goal is to achieve a beautiful and stable smile for yourself and your family, Smile Solutions of Maine has the answers you seek.
The focus of the gentle staff at Smile Solutions is on you, the patient. A caring, sensitive approach to one’s positive experience remains our ultimate goal. The functional efforts toward dental health of previous decades has been replaced with individual, patient-centered treatment. This team challenges themselves each day to live and work by this approach.

The original practice began in 1976 as a small office in Waterville under the name of Peter B. Laliberte, D.M.D. Growing vertically, Dr. Jay Wietecha joined Laliberte in 2001, renaming the practice Esthetic and Reconstructive Dentistry. Further growth occurred when Dr. Peter Vayanos added his talents to the group in 2010. We were then able to expand our reach by acquiring Dr. Robert Sand’s practice in Winthrop.
Subsequently, the organization was retitled Smile Solutions to more closely align with its evolving focus. The practice continued its growth by accepting patients from doctors Farrell and Vermette in transition of their closing.
More recently in 2017, Dr. Joseph Dumont brought his knowledge and enthusiasm to the group. During the last three years, Laliberte phased out of clinical practice, though he has remained connected through mentoring and guiding the group forward. Many changes have occurred over four decades and today, Smile Solutions serves much of the Central Maine area.
The doctors education is unparalleled; hygienists, assistants, lab personnel and office associates are drawn to ever improving their skills and knowledge. The extensively educated, trained and qualified staff maintain certifications and are current in their discipline through onsite inservice and continuing education courses.
Facilities in Waterville and Winthrop have been modernized with the addition of new state-of-the-art treatment rooms and equipment, intra-oral cameras, digital scans (to eliminate messy impressions), and a 3-D (Cat-scan) machine for better diagnosis. Efforts are under way to install new software to minimize our carbon footprint as well as capture all information digitally and photographically to bring you, the patient, closer to your care. The highest quality labs are sought out for fabrication of esthetic restorations. Office interiors have been enhanced and redecorated to provide a more comfortable environment.
Enter our world of specialty cleaning devices and materials, nutritional awareness, acute diagnosis and maintenance of health with the elimination of disease as the goal. All manor of therapy, including esthetic conversion, enhancement of comfort and stability, implants, over-dentures (dentures attached over teeth or implants), crown and bridge reconstruction, periodontics (specialty gum care), joint/bite stabilization and other disciplines are utilized to achieve wellness.
We love our profession and bring our skills to the community. The team teaches at University of Maine’s dental health programs in Bangor and visits local schools to energize and enlighten children regarding oral health. At our facilities, through on-site training, we motivate local high school and college students interested in various fields of dentistry. Laliberte has participated in many mission trips with personal and practice support to serve impoverished folks in rural Honduras. Smile Solutions providers gift complete care to the indigent through a state wide program – Donated Dental Services.
The practice is renewed and continues to evolve with patient-centered cosmetic and esthetic dental solutions. We look for you to share your vision and goals with Smile Solutions’ team members, who will provide excellence in service and dental care.
You alone are in control of your dental health and overall well-being.
