Sep. 12018

SOUTH PARIS — The Novel Idea Book Club will discuss “The Cay” — a junior historical fiction novel by Theodore Taylor — at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, at the Paris Public Library, 37 Market Square.

“The Cay” has won more than 12 literary awards, including New York Times Best Selling Book of the Year and A School Library Journal Best Book of the Year. The Washington Star referred to the book “one of the best survival stories since ‘Robinson Crusoe.'”
In 1942, a 12 year-old boy is leaving the island of Curaco, off Venezuela, with his mother, on a freighter. The ship is torpedoed by a German submarine and Phillip becomes marooned on a deserted island in the Caribbean with an elderly blind West Indian man.
The public is welcome to attend. For more information, call 207-743-6994.
