GARDINER — The Gardiner Rotary Club recently welcomed its new district governor from Levi, Quebec, to the Gardiner Rotary Club. District 7790 governor, Marcel Noel, visited the Gardiner Rotary Club in July 26 to welcome the new officers of the club and to discuss Rotary International’s goals for the coming year.
Members in attendance were Peter Preble, Neal Kelley, Helen Stevens, Karen Tucker, Debra Couture, Pat Hopkins, Ingrid Stanchfield, Kathy Cutler, Cindy Malcolm, Rusty Greenleaf, Amy Dyer, board member, Jim Murphy and Claudia Quintal.
District 7790 clubs are located in towns in Androscoggin, Kennebec, Somerset, Penobscot, Franklin, Waldo, Hancock, Knox and Lincoln counties as well as Quebec, along both sides of the St. Lawrence River.
Some of Rotary’s international projects include eradication of polio worldwide and grants that help countries around the world in drilling wells, building schools and clinics, providing wheelchairs, medical supplies, and teaching families how to grow food for survival.
\ocally, Gardiner Rotary began and continues to work on the Gardiner Waterfront Project, the Rail Trails, educational grants, funding food banks, and many other projects in the area. They meet weekly at the Boys and Girls Club of Kennebec Valley in Gardiner.
