RUMFORD — Jennifer Richard Jacobson, a literacy specialist, will be visiting classrooms at Rumford Elementary School on Wednesday, March 1, and Thursday, March 2. Families are invited to a presentation with the author at 6 p.m. March 2 in the Rumford Elementary School cafeteria.
Jacobson is the author of “No More “I’m Done! Fostering Independent Writers in the Primary Grades” and over a dozen award-winning books for children, including “Andy Shane and the Very Bossy Dolores Starbuckle,” in which shy, reticent Andy joins forces with an overly exuberant friend; the bestselling middle-grade novel, “Small as an Elephant,” about 12-year old Jack who’s been abandoned in a national park; the young adult novel “Stained” in which 17-year-old Jocelyn searches for one boy while holding fast to her love for another; and her newest launch, “Paper Things,”a nuanced story about homeless siblings.
A three-time winner of the Lupine Award for Young Readers, Jacobson lives in Maine with her husband and dog, and when not writing provides training in writers workshop for teachers.
A graduate of Lesley College and Harvard Graduate School of Education, Jennifer has taught preschool through sixth grade and has served as curriculum coordinator, head of studies and language arts specialist in several schools.
