WATERVILLE — Central Maine residents in need of denture services have another Waterville-area choice. Gary Boudreau, of Skowhegan Denture, will work on Mondays out of the Waterville office of dentist E.J. Nawfel, 229 Main St., beginning in August.
Skowhegan Denture will remain open on Wednesdays and Fridays and by appointment at its home location, 140 Madison Ave. in Skowhegan.
Boudreau has known Nawfel and his father, E.R. Nawfel, for many years.
“I’ve made dentures for these guys for 27 years,” he said. “I was his guy, and he actually is my dentist.”
Boudreau said the Monday services will be available from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., “or whenever the customers run out. The area has been hurting for people to make dentures. A lot of dentists don’t make dentures anymore, and some people don’t want to make the 20-mile trip to Skowhegan.”
Boudreau makes his dentures in the basement of the his Benton home, delivering the finished product to patients at Skowhegan Denture and now at Nawfel’s office. His wife Dawn, who has a degree in finance and accounting from the University of Maine, handles that side of the business.
“I’ll be in the offices when my patients need me, by appointment, and the rest of the week I’m in my lab,” Boudreau said. “So it’s best that people call me for an appointment.” He can be reached at 207-474-9324 or in the Waterville office at 207-660-1530.
Boudreau has roots in the denture business. His mother owned Fairfield Dental Lab, and when she needed help with the business, Boudreau was ready, despite living in California at the time
“She needed a partner, and I wanted to come home,” he said. Boudreau attended classes from New England Dental Technology in Bangor, passed his board exams, and last year took over the business of Richard Berry, who had operated in downtown Skowhegan for 50 years.
