RUMFORD — Rumford Elementary School’s Family Literacy Night will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, at the school, 121 Lincoln Ave., to celebrate with visiting children’s author Kimberly Ridley.
Ridkley is the award-winning author of “The Secret Pool” — a non-fiction picture book about vernal pools.
Although her visit will focus on that book, she has also written two other non-fiction books — “The Secret Bay” and “Extreme Survivors.” She enjoys sharing her love of nature with children.
When she’s not writing or presenting at schools, Ridley enjoys gardening, birding and exploring the woods and shores around her home on the Maine coast. She finds inspiration in the courage, intelligence, and creativity of ordinary people and in the mystery of the natural world.
