GARDINER — ArtWalk Gardiner kicks off its 14th season Friday, May 4 with art and music downtown.
Artists’ studios, galleries, shops and other venues along Water Street will feature unique works of art from 5:30 to 8 p.m.
Art ranges from paintings, drawings, fine art prints, photography, sculpture, jewelry, woodworks and ceramics.
First launched in 2005 by Artdogs studios and a handful of other area artists, the mission of ArtWalk Gardiner is to increase community awareness and appreciation of the visual arts, to encourage interaction with local artists and the public, and to nurture a supportive network also enhancing the local economy. Since its inception, ArtWalk Gardiner has drawn hundreds of visitors to Water Street to enjoy these festive evenings.
Original works by many local artists and artist groups include Artdogs members, Karen Adrienne, Boys & Girls Club of Kennebec Valley, Anna Burdette, Circling the Square Fine Art Press members, Matt Demers, Isabella Files, Aylah Ireland, Kala Ladenheim, Allison McKeen, Kristen MMurphy, Linda Murray, SpinOff Studio members, Christine Sullivan, Tina Wood/Upstream, Wild Feather Woodworks, and others
The evening’s special events include artist open studios and demonstrations; live music by Justin Walton; a seedling sale in Gardiner Food Co-op and Cafe; a program at Monkitree titled “Together is Better: The Marvel and Mystery of Fish Migration,”; and “What’s Your Flavor?” — an art installation and ice cream social — will take place at SpinOff Studios.
