NORWAY — Oxford Hills SCORE is awarding 25 Years of Service certificates to two long-time volunteers.
Harry Burns, of Rumford, and Keith Willoughby, of Norway, have been recognized for the service by the business mentoring organization.
Burns graduated from the University of Maine in 1953 with a civil engineering degree. After a stint in the military, he worked for Wyman Engineering, the Town of Rumford, and finished his career working 22 years for the Maine Department of Transportation. He retired in December 1992 and joined the Rumford SCORE chapter in March 1993, where he served as one of only three chapter chairmen.
He has continued to be a mentor to Rumford residents even after the Rumford office merged with Oxford Hills in 2014. He makes the trip to Norway every month to attend the SCORE monthly meetings and he continues to keep his certification as a mentor updated.
Willoughby, a resident of Norway, spent more than 20 years working in the banking industry. He retired to Waterford initially, joining SCORE as a mentor in 1989. During his tenure, he served as chapter chairman and led several task forces. He is most proud of being associated with the initiative to bring a veteran’s home to western Maine.
He moved to emeritus status in 2014 after many years of mentoring individuals starting their own business as well as with existing businesses working to enhance their products or services.
