Architectural historian to speak Topsham Historical Society April 10

TOPSHAM — Bruce Bourque of the Maine State Museum will be the guest speaker at the Topsham Historical Society’s monthly meeting 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 10.
The meeting takes place at the Topsham Public Library, 25 Foreside Road.

Bourque will provide a short historical sketch of the 17th century community of English settlers who lived and worked around Merrymeeting Bay. He will explain how the project team plans to rediscover and systematically study the lost sites from the period, using high-tech remote-sensing technologies, such as high-resolution airborne LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging).
He will also demonstrate how LiDAR imaging can be a valuable tool in this study and many other disciplines.
