READFIELD — The Readfield Community Library will host a book talk by local author and historian Dale Potter-Clark from 6:30 to 7:30 Monday, March 12 at the library, 1151 Main St.
Potter-Clark will discuss the book she co-authored with Charles L. Day titled “The Founders and Evolution of Summer Resorts and Kids’ Camps on Four Lakes in Central Maine.”
The 356-page book includes 220 vintage photos and information about more than 40 camps and resorts once existing on Lovejoy, Torsey, Echo and Maranacook lakes.
Also included in the book are chapters about the coming of the railroad, steamboats and the trolley as well as tourism to this area in its early years and more.
Following a book talk and reading, the author will be available to sign copies of her books.
