AUGUSTA — Alfred Proto, M.D., has joined MaineGeneral Surgery. Proto joins thoracic surgeon Seth Blank, M.D., and will work with other surgical services including general surgery, vascular surgery, plastic surgery and otolaryngology (ear, nose and throat).
Proto comes to MaineGeneral from St. Mary Medical Center in Langhorne, Pa.
He earned his medical degree from the Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara in Guadalajara, Mexico. He completed residencies at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York and St. Luke’s Hospital in Bethlehem, Pa. He completed a fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery at Wake Forest Baptist Health in Winston-Salem, N.C. Proto is certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. He has special interests in minimally-invasive lung and esophageal surgery.
MaineGeneral thoracic surgeons offer leading-edge, minimally-invasive surgery.
