UNITY — The work of Gardiner artist Matt Demers will be featured at the Leonard R. Craig Gallery at Unity College from Jan. 25 to April 7.
Matt Demers “Nest” explores and interprets the composition of wasp and hornet nests in his personal style of decisive brushstrokes, collage, and abstract mark making, according to a news release from the college.
“I’ve always been drawn to the forms, textures, patterns, and energy of these natural sculptural objects,” Demers said. “I wanted to amplify those elements that I love to create my own unique objects while remaining true to their original forms.”
An opening reception will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 25. Refreshments will be provided. The reception is free and open to the public.
